MEDICAL BENEFITS

Our Locke Lord medical plans are designed with various financial strategies to give you choice and flexibility. With a variety of medical plans offered, you can choose a plan with the financial structure that best meets your needs. This year’s medical plans include:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Base plan
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield High Deductible-Health Plan (HDHP) (PPO) plan

Both of our Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans give you the flexibility to choose the doctor and hospital you prefer each time you seek medical care. These PPO plans are designed to give you access to specialists without the need for referrals and is part of the BlueCard Network.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) includes a Health Savings Account (HSA). The HDHP with an HSA gives you control over your health care spending and the chance to earn valuable consumer rewards for getting and staying healthy. The HSA can be used to pay part of your deductible using pre-tax contributions to pay for medical expenses. Any money deposited in HSA account and not used rolls over from year to year. HSA accounts earn interest and are 100% participant owned.

Understanding Your Deductibles

Locke Lord’s Base Plan PPO has an embedded deductible.

  • The embedded deductible plan starts paying coinsurance after the individual deductible has been met.
  • Essentially there is a “safety net” of an individual deductible within the family deductible.

Locke Lord’s HDHP has a non-embedded deductible.

  • It can be met by one family member or a combination of family members; however, the plan does not start paying coinsurance until expenses equaling the family deductible amount have been incurred.
